Introduction To The Kingdom

The Experience

Set against the backdrop of the high Himalayas, the Kathmandu Valley contains the heart of Nepal’s rich cultural, political, and geographical heritage. This tour explores the mingling of the Buddhist and Hindu traditions and the craftsmanship that adorns the numerous places of worship. Begin exploring Newar culture by visiting the well preserved town Bungamati and the village of Khokona. Continue exploring the artistic craftsmanship for which newari culture is famous in Patan before visiting the old palaces of Durbar Square, just steps from the old market, followed by Swayamabunath, known as the “Monkey Temple.” On the next day of touring, visit Changu Narayan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to the second of the former kingdoms, Bhaktapur; Nepal’s ancient art capital is beautifully preserved and evocative of the Nepal of centuries ago. The day continues with a visit to Pashupatinath, one of the seven holiest Hindu temples, where pilgrims, devotees, salesmen, and yogis crowd together. Conclude at the largest stupa in Nepal, Bodhanath, the center of Kathmandu’s Tibetan community. People from every corner of the Himalayas – Tibetan, Bhutanese, and Nepali – have been visiting this pilgrimage point for centuries, a suitable place to conclude your introduction to Nepal.
