Exploring Bako National Park: Sarawak’s Oldest Wildlife Haven
Although the smallest national park in Sarawak, Bako is also the oldest – and among the most rewarding. Just a short boat ride from Kuching, its lush jungles and tangled rivers offer an ideal escape into nature.
Coastal Landscapes and Mangrove Trails
Arriving by boat through winding mangrove channels, you’re greeted with dramatic coastal rock formations. Once ashore, well-marked trails lead you through dense rainforest and along sandy beaches.
Rich Wildlife Encounters
Despite its compact size of 27 square kilometers, Bako National Park teems with wildlife. Look out for long-tailed macaques, bearded pigs, over 150 bird species, and the rare, pot-bellied proboscis monkeys that swing through the treetops.
