Day 1: Mekong Delta in a Day - Cycle in Caibe & Long An
Around 105 kms by highway 1A from Ho Chi Minh city, Cai Be is a river town of upper river and a beautiful land of region that is famed for the tropical fruit gardens, waterfront villages, floating market, river islands, local handicrafts and friendly people.
07h00 - 7h15 Am, Our minivan will pick you up and transfer out of Saigon on an approx 2 hours to Cai Lay (a region of tropical horticulture such as longan berries, jackfruit, durian, pomelo, rambutan ect.. ). Under the green canopy and the peaceful countryside lanes passing local villages and natural canals,we take a bicycle ride of 2 hours to explore the fruit orchards,see different kinds of fruit trees.and daily life of the local people (18-25kms) .Arriving at Cai Be, stop at the village to see locals making puffed rice,coconut candy,rice paper ect… Then We board our boat and relax for a cruise over Mekong river past through the riverfront villages and the Cai Be floating market. Stop for lunch at the local garden house serving with the local specialties (pancake,deepfried elephant ear fish,longan berries wine ..) on Tan Phong island. After lunch, we will take the wooden sampans padlling down narrow natural waterway canal to see more local acivities during the day. Leaving Cai Be, our trip will be changed to see different things of the delta. Long An areas is well known for massive red flesh dragon fruit plantation and expansive rice fields. You will hop on your bikes again and enjoy a final ride on the small routes lined with dragon fruit farm and rice paddies( 15-22kms). Our guide will show you how farmer set up their dragon farms to take care of this special cacti trees and stabilize with their agricultural rice industry ect.. Also a good chance for you to do taste fresh, just off the trees and ride along the pathways of the rice fields under the sunset and frog concert! Tired but happy after a long day to see the delta, cool beer and snack for freshing before coming back to Saigon. Hotel arrival around 7pm. End the tour, don’t forget the TIP!!!
